Life & Hobbies

Originally born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Dr. Braithwaite's family moved quite a bit: from Utah to Texas, then from Texas to Saudi Arabia and back again. In the mid-90s, they also moved from Upstate New York to Vincennes, Indiana. Since then, he has called Indiana, The Crossroads of America, home. 

After graduating from high school in 2001, Dr. Braithwaite pursued an education in studio art and art history at Vincennes University and later at Indiana University Herron School of Art and Design. He has always been good with his hands, and it was rare for him not to come out on top in competitions and art shows. Despite his accolades, Dr. Braithwaite was still longing for answers. At the time, he believed the answers would only come from science. Everything is subjective in art, but science pursues the truth no matter what it may be. He decided to take the leap and pursue a new path.  

During his pursuit, Dr. Braithwaite pondered how he could utilize his skills to bring about the most positive, meaningful change to those around him. It was then that it became clear to him that he would be a dentist — the perfect mix of art and science — and he hasn't looked back since.  

Dr. Braithwaite graduated from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2013. He continues to love the variety, challenges, and satisfaction of helping those in need.  

When he isn't working, Dr. Braithwaite loves spending time with his dog, Chunk, lifting, reading, finding interesting hiking places, drawing, and painting. He also enjoys playing a great board game (Root, anyone?!)

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Powlette loves doing anything with his wife, Katie, and their pup, Luna. He also loves indulging in food, woodworking, music, and traveling.
